The clinical group 08 students of 41st batch arranged a meeting regarding the cost-effective healthy diet under the guidance of Dr. S. Kumaran (Consultant family physician). Prof.R Surendrakumaran (Dean, Faculy of Medicine University of Jaffna), Mr. Sundareswaran (Former student of Agricultural faculty, University of Jaffna), farmers, home gardeners, sponsors, Demonstrators of wellbeing centre, 44th batch representatives of wellbeing centre were invited to the discussion. The event started with welcome address and then it followed by an introduction speech regarding the event. Later our Dean did a brief speech on the need of change in the society in order to survive this critical situation of country. He explained regarding the importance of farming and importance of heathy food in less expenditure. Then students had a small fun programme among the participants and following that the students visited the garden and explained regarding the garden to the participants of discussion. The following decisions were taken.
- Proper irrigation system should be established in order to prepare the land for the garden.
- Mammoty, a water tank and other basic equipment should be provided.
- A committee should be formed and maintained for the garden.
- should be monitored properly.
As the medical hostel is situated far away from the faculty decision to use the hostel food wastes for compost preparation is still on discussion
