On the 24th of February 2024, the Provincial Youth Empowerment Network (PYEN), conducted the above workshop on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) successfully. The session took place at seminar room of the Department of Community and Family Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Jaffna, and was attended by 46 fourth year undergraduate medical students. The session covered introductory topics related to SRHR, including learning river of SRHR using medical, social and legal lenses, SRHR landscape of Sri Lanka and the province, improve competencies as future practitioners of SRHR.
The core objective of this intervention is to initiate a dialogue with Medical students on the concept of community based SRHR and its application in the Northern Province of Sri Lanka in order to provide meaningful support to young people and enable the environment for access to services.
