An amazing discussion on “Future steps of Center for Digital Epidemiology (CoDE) & Brain storming of Interdisciplinary team” took place, on June 21, 2024, at the Board Room of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Jaffna. The event was highlighted with the participation of esteemed academics and professionals, including: Prof.Nishan Kanagarajah (president and vice-chancellor of the University of Leicester), Prof.Krishnarajah Nirantharakumar (Joint-Director for the Centre for Health Data Science and Deputy Director for the Institute of Applied Health Research at University of Birmingham), Associate Prof. Jonas Karlstrom,Innovation Core Lead,SingHealth Duke-NUS Global Health Institute, Dr.Kiran.J.Agarwal,Founder of SONA Global ,Founder & Director of Havard Global Orthopaedics Collaborative(HOGC) & Orthopaedic Surgeon along with Deans , Heads , senior lecturers, lecturers of various faculties of University of Jaffna.
The session explored the elements that promote interdisciplinary collaboration and identified the major hurdles to achieving it. The strategies to encourage the staff to get involved in multidisciplinary research were discussed, emphasizing the value of shared leadership. The team also identified the globally relevant and locally impactful key activities and discussed the priority topics and the infrastructure required to promote multidisciplinary research at the University of Jaffna.
