The post congress workshop on ‘Nephro-Urology’ was organized collaboratively by the Jaffna Medical Association and Faculty of Medicine, University of Jaffna on 23rd August 2024 at 1.00 pm in the Hoover Auditorium, Faculty of Medicine. This event was graced with the presence of our chief guest Dr.Anuruddha Abeygunasekara, Consultant Urological Surgeon.
Dr.B.Balagobi, Senior lecturer and Consultant Urological Surgeon, Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine introduced the chief guest of this event and inaugurated the post congress workshop. The chief guest Dr.Anuruddha Abeygunasekara, Consultant Urological Surgeon addressed the gathering. Following the chief guest address, the token of appreciation was given by Prof.R.Surenthirakumaran Dean, Faculty of Medicine and JMA token of appreciation was given by Dr.V.Sutharsan President of Jaffna Medical Association. Dr.V.Sutharsan the President of Jaffna Medical Association addressed the gathering giving a glimpse into his memories of medical career.
The topics related to Nephro-Urology were discussed by the speakers such as;
- Dr.Niruba Umashankar, Senior lecturer, Department of Paediatrics, Faculty of Medicine on “Update in Childhood Urinary Tract Infections”
- Dr.N.Sivasangar, Consultant Nephrologist, Teaching Hospital Jaffna and Dr.Brammah R Thangarajah, Senior lecturer, Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine on “Clinical Essentials of Renal Failure”
- Dr.T.Gowribahan, Consultant Urological Surgeon, Teaching Hospital Jaffna on “Urological Emergencies”
- Dr.K.Guruparan, Senior lecturer and head, Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Faculty of Medicine on “Female Urine Incontinence”
Following each talk, the questions were collected from the medical students and Dr.B.Balagobi moderated the discussions. The token of appreciation were given by Dr.V.Sutharsan President of Jaffna Medical Association for the respective speakers at the end of each lectures. The post congress workshop came to an end with closing remarks given by Dr.B.Balagobi.
