A Symposium on Elderly Care Strategic Planning for Northern Sri Lanka: Lessons Learned and Way Forward, was held on the 15th of October, 2024 in celebration of International Day for Senior Citizens was conducted by Department of Social Services, Northern Provincial Council in collaboration with University of Jaffna including Faculty of Medicine at the Hoover Auditorium, Faculty of Medicine, UoJ 8.30 a.m. onwards. This symposium that offered both in-person and virtual participation.
The chief guests were Mr.L.Ilaangovan (Chief Secretary, Northern Province), and Prof.S.Srisatkunarajah (Vice Chancellor, University of Jaffna). The symposium was shared by six speakers, Dr. V. Sujanitha, Prof. Shehan Williams, Mrs.V. Varathagowry, Mr. V. Jeyaruban, Prof. A. Sarweswaran and Prof. Indralal de Silva. After the part of this program, an event featuring elders from various societies took place, followed by an awards ceremony for the elders.
