The SLMA Doctors Concert

The SLMA Doctors Concert was held on 18th August 2024 at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo. This annual event has become a significant occasion where doctors and their families showcase their artistic talents in singing, instrumental music, drama, and dance, creating a vibrant celebration of the performing arts.

This year’s concert was significant as all proceeds from ticket sales and sponsorships were directed to support the “Feed the Patient” project at the National Cancer Institute, Maharagama.

Medical students from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Jaffna, made a noteworthy contribution with a cultural performance that featured Bharatanatyam and oriental music. This performance was part of the theme of doctors “performing” for patients, highlighting the intersection of medicine and the arts.

The participation of the Jaffna medical students was facilitated through the invitation extended by Dr. B. Balagobi, Senior Lecturer and Consultant Urological Surgeon, Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine. A total of 18 students performed.
