SUMMARY:Core Skills in Laparoscopic Surgery (CLS) courses  by Royal College of Surgeons centre
DESCRIPTION:The Core Skills in Laparoscopic Surgery (CLS) program conducted by the University of Jaffna has been approved by the Postgraduate Institute of Medicine (PGIM) as one of the Core Skills in Laparoscopic Surgery training programmes for 1st-year surgical registrars. \n\n\n\nThis intensive two-day course focuses on the core laparoscopic surgery skills and theoretical knowledge essential for every surgical discipline. In a safe\, simulated environment\, participants will use a range of quality laparoscopic equipment\, work with specifically designed benchtop models\, and learn various knotting and suturing techniques and animal tissue specimens for procedures like appendectomy and cholecystectomy. Highly experienced faculty are on hand to deliver individual feedback and mentoring for improvement. \n\n\n\nLed by experienced faculty\, with one trainer for two participants\, individuals will have the opportunity to learn to use a range of surgical instruments and to handle tissue with increased confidence.
