The framework and processes of Quality Assurance and Accreditation (QAA) currently implemented in the university system in Sri Lanka, envisage reviewing all subjects and institutions in the national universities of Sri Lanka to improve the quality of university education. Internal Quality Assurance Unit was established in the year 2015 under the instruction of University Grants Commission and accelerates its activities under the direction of the Vice-Chancellor. In the year of 2011 Internal Quality Assurance activities was initiated at Faculty of Medicine & became fully functional in 2016.
The Faculty Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) will function as part of the Medical Education Unit for logistics purposes and the functions along with the Medical Education Cell. Main function of the IQAC will be to design action plans and implement quality principals.
The main functions are to ensure departmental meetings, students and peer evaluation, curriculum design and revision, publish various materials related to QA and to review the graduate feedback and programme review process.
IQAC shall have regular meetings on the first Wednesday of every month, at 2.00 pm in the medical faculty Board Room.
The office of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell is located in the 2nd floor of Administrative Building of Faculty of Medicine.
