About Us

The Centre for Digital Epidemiology (CoDE) is a non-profit academic research centre established in 2023 with the aim of advancing knowledge, strengthening research capacity, and promoting the dissemination of evidence in epidemiology. CoDE operates under the Faculty of Medicine, University of Jaffna, and serves as a hub for innovative, data-driven public health research.

 

CoDE undertakes multi-disciplinary research, community engagement initiatives, capacity-building training, and educational programmes, with a strong focus on leveraging digital tools and epidemiological methods to address local, national, and global health challenges. Through collaboration with academic institutions, healthcare providers, policymakers, and communities, CoDE strives to generate impactful research that informs practice and policy.

Mission

To advance knowledge and learning in research, teaching, and community outreach in epidemiology through comprehensive academic, scientific, and ethical principles.

Objectives

  1. Generate over LKR 50 million in competitive research grant funding
  1. Produce more than 50 publications in reputable international journals
  1. Train 15 interdisciplinary early-career researchers
  1. Strengthen leadership capacity among existing core academic staff
  1. Enroll at least five PhD candidates from among early-career researchers
  1. Inform and support healthcare strategies for the Northern Province of Sri Lanka
