After Receiving Your UGC Offer

Congratulations on receiving an offer to study Medicine at the University of Jaffna. After receiving the official UGC offer, the University of Jaffna will guide you through acceptance, registration, fee payment, visa arrangements and preparation for arrival.

The final offer is issued by the University Grants Commission. Applicants should not begin fee payment or travel arrangements based only on an application acknowledgement.

University Registration

After accepting the offer, contact the University Admissions Branch to obtain the current registration checklist and registration date.

  • Original statements of results
  • Birth certificate
  • English-language certificate, where applicable
  • Course-fee payment receipt

Original documents must be presented for verification. Registration cannot be completed using incomplete or unverifiable documents.

Annual MBBS Course-Fee Payment

Academic Year 2025/2026

Annual combined tuition and examination fee: US$15,000

Selected students should make payments only after receiving official instructions from the University of Jaffna.

VISA PROCESS

Arrange the Correct Visa Before Travelling

Do not enter Sri Lanka on a tourist visa for university study. A tourist visa will not be converted into a student visa. The correct visa must be obtained before travelling.

ENTRY VISA

The University may require or arrange documents such as:

  • University covering letter
  • Recommendation from the Vice-Chancellor or authorised institutional officer
  • Certified passport copy
  • Certified copy of the official UGC selection letter
  • Police or security-clearance document from the applicant’s country of residence
  • Other documents requested by immigration authorities

Students should contact the University Admissions Branch early to arrange institutional supporting documents.

RESIDENCE VISA

The residence-visa process may require:

  • University covering letter
  • Recommendation from the Vice-Chancellor or authorised officer
  • Certified passport copy
  • Completed residence-visa application
  • Institutional recommendation and official seal
  • Valid entry or landing visa
  • Additional documents requested by immigration authorities

A valid entry or landing visa is required when applying for a residence visa.

RESIDENCE-VISA Extension

Residence visas must be renewed before expiry.
