DOCUMENTS CHECKLIST

Core Documents

Applicants should prepare the documents required by the current UGC handbook, which may include:

  • Completed current UGC application form
  • Advanced Level certificate
  • Official statement of results
  • Passport bio-data page
  • Birth certificate
  • English-language certificate, where applicable
  • Proof of payment of the application-processing fee
  • Evidence of sufficient funds
  • Official English translations of documents issued in another language
  • Affidavit where names differ between documents
  • Additional documents relevant to the applicant’s category

Electronic documents must include a method by which their authenticity can be verified.

Copies should be certified by an appropriate authority, such as:

  • Issuing authority or institution
  • Notary public
  • Commissioner for oaths in the relevant country

Additional Documents for Sri Lankan Passport Holders

These may include:

  • Passport pages covering the period of overseas study
  • Travel-movement records
  • School-leaving certificates
  • Applicant’s birth certificate
  • Parent or guardian employment certificates
  • Parent or guardian passport evidence
  • Parent or guardian travel-movement records
  • Evidence of legal guardianship
  • Affidavits where required

Failure to submit required documents and certificates may result in rejection of the application.
