The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Jaffna, successfully conducted a focused and high-impact hands-on workshop titled “Hysteroscopy: Principles and Practices” on the 7th of April 2026 at the Clinical Training and Research Block (CTRB) Skill Laboratory.
This workshop was designed to enhance competency-based training in hysteroscopy among medical officers and postgraduate trainees, integrating core theoretical principles with structured, supervised practical exposure. Participants gained valuable experience in instrumentation, procedural techniques, and safe operative practices within a controlled skill-laboratory setting.
The programme was delivered by an experienced faculty comprising Prof. S. Raguraman, Dr. R. Thuvarathipan, Dr. P. Kapilesan, and Dr. M. Thanuya, ensuring both academic depth and practical relevance.
The success of this workshop was further strengthened by the generous support of Karl Storz as the equipment sponsor, facilitating access to advanced hysteroscopic systems and enhancing the overall quality of training.
This initiative underscores the Department’s continued commitment to advancing skills-based postgraduate and medical officer training in women’s health, while fostering high standards of clinical practice within the Northern Province.
