Gender awareness sessions in Phase 2

For the 44th batch

Gender awareness sessions were conducted by the GCFM for the 44^th batch in phase 2 on two different days during the hours allocated for PPDS.

 

Day 1 (15.07.2024)

This session was conducted in two parts.

 

Part 1 – Gender‑Based Violence against Men – study report discussion

Resource persons:

Dr Ramya K, Dr Raguraman S, Dr Sivananthini U, Dr D C Ambalavanar, Dr Valarmathy A and Dr PAD Coonghe

Study report to be discussed was shared a few days before the session.

This session was for one hour.

Students were divided into three groups. A male and a female academic facilitated the discussion in each group

Students were encouraged to express their views in their first language if they preferred.

 

Part 2 – Kahoot quiz competition on gender

Resource persons:

Dr Ramya K, Dr Sivananthini U, Dr D C Ambalavanar and Dr Valarmathy A

This session was for one hour in two different venues.

Students in each venue were divided into 7-8 groups and a gender quiz competition was conducted through Kahoot app. Winning groups in each venue were given a small prize.

 

Day 2 (26.07.2024)

This session was for one and a half hour from 1.00 pm – 2.30 pm for the whole batch.

Brief talk

A brief talk was given by the Coordinator, GCFM on overcoming gender discrimination through history of resistance in achieving equality.

 

Role play on gender issues

Role play scripts were shared by the Coordinator, GCFM with relevant students previously. Between 10 -15 students role played two different gender based scenarios and winning group, male best actor and female best actor were given small prizes.

Gender role plays by the 44^th batch students

For the 45^th batch

Gender sessions were conducted by the GCFM through PPDS on two different days during the hours allocated for PPDS.

 

Day 1 (22.11.2024)

This session was conducted as (Kahoot) quiz competition on gender.

Dr P Deneshan, Dr D C Ambalavanar, Ms Kavitha N and Dr Valarmathy A

This session was for two hours in two different venues.

Students in each venue were divided into ten groups and a gender quiz competition was conducted through Kahoot app. Winning groups in each venue were given a small prize.

 

Day 2 (29.11.2024)

This session was for one and a half hour for the whole batch.

Brief talk

A brief talk was given by the Coordinator, GCFM on overcoming gender discrimination through history of resistance in achieving equality.

Role play on gender issues

Students role played four different scenarios on gender issues (dress code, gender discrimination and gender inequality) and winning team, male best actor and female best actor were given small prizes.

Conducted on 24^th and 28^th of October 2025.

Day 1 (24.10.2025)

Day 2 (28.10.2025)

Role-play competition on gender

This session was for two hours for the whole batch.

Role play scripts were shared by the Coordinator, GCFM with relevant students previously. Between 40 -50 students role played four different gender based scenarios. Dr Sanchayan, Ms Pavithra (Demonstrator, Dept. of Microbiology) and Dr Ramya served as the judges for the competition. Winning group, male best actor and female best actor were given small prizes.
