Vacancy – Post of Temporary Research Assistant

University of Jaffna will entertain applications from qualified persons for the under-mentioned post up to Tuesday, 10^th November 2026.

Candidates who have passed the final examinations in Medicine/ Biomedical Science/ Allied Health Sciences from state Universities or UGC recognized foreign universities are encouraged to apply.

• Post: Temporary Research Assistant, Department of Community and Family Medicine, Faculty of Medicine

 

• Salary Scale: A fixed monthly salary of Rs.85,305/= subject to a deduction of Rs.8,906/= as an unpaid amount, in accordance with Commission Circular No.02/2025 (i) dated 04.04.2025. In addition to the above salary, the allowances approved by the University Grants Commission applicable to the post will be paid.

Qualifications:-

1. A First or Second Class (Upper Division) in a Special Degree in the relevant subject.

OR

2. A Second Class (Lower Division) in a Special Degree in the relevant subject.

OR

3. An Ordinary Pass in a Special Degree in the relevant subject.

 

NOTE:

1. An applicant, who is eligible under (3.) above, could be considered for appointment only if no applicant is qualified under (1.) or (2.) above.
2. An applicant, who is eligible under (2.) above, could be considered for appointment only if no applicant is qualified under (1.) above.
3. The Subject Specialization in Medicine/ Biomedical Science/ Allied Health Sciences would be considered as RELEVANT SUBJECT for the post of Temporary Research Assistant.

Completed applications should be sent by registered post. Applicants are requested to enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope along with the paid bank slip, and forward the same to the Senior Assistant Registrar, Faculty of Medicine, University of Jaffna, Adiyapatham Road, Kokuvil, Jaffna

The post applied for should be clearly marked on the top left-hand corner of the envelope. In addition, applicants must fill in their details via the Google link (Click Here) on or before Tuesday, 10^th November 2026.

Applicants from the University System/Government Departments/Corporations and Statutory Boards should channel their applications through the Head of the respective Institutions, but may send an advance copy in the first instance.  However, no such applicant will be considered for an interview if the application channeled through the Head of the Department is not received.

Illegible & incomplete applications, and applications received by the University after the closing date, will be rejected without intimation. Only short-listed applicants will be called for an interview.
