5th Undergraduate Research Symposium

The 5th Undergraduate Research Symposium (URS2022) of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Jaffna, was held on December 5th 2022 under the theme “Wisdom through Research.”

The inauguration was held at the Hoover Auditorium. Prof. Krishnarajah Nirantharakumar, Professor in Health Data Science and Public Health at the Institute of Applied Health Research, University of Birmingham, was chief guest and addressed the gathering. The Vice Chancellor and Dean, Faculty of Medicine presided at the event. Several health administrators in the Jaffna district and consultants at the Teaching Hospital Jaffna graced the occasion.

All students of the 40th, 41st and 42nd Batches of medical students participated at the symposium. The inauguration was followed by three themed parallel sessions titled: Chronic Illness and Care; Women, Children and Nutrition; and Education, the Pandemic and Beyond. Thirty (30) abstracts were presented by students of the 40th Batch. A panel of evaluators comprising Faculty and Teaching Hospital staff evaluated the presentations. The prize winners are listed below.
