Water & Health Project

Training programme on “Water & health project” was organized at the conference hall, Faculty of Medicine, University of Jaffna from 13th of March 2023 – 17th of March 2023 to train the Data collectors and assistants of this project titled ‘Relationship of water salinity with Hypertension and its selected risk factors and quality of life among adults in Karainagar and Nallur divisional secretariats’. This project aims to creating awareness among people and encouraging possible mechanisms to obtain fresh water may promote safe water consumption behaviors among communities and helps in forming different strategies to control salinity.

Dr S.Kumaran leads this project, Senior Lecture in the Department of Community and Family medicine, with his project co-Leads Prof. Mahesh Nirmalan (Vice dean for Social responsibility and Public engagement, Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health, University of Manchester), Emeritus Prof. Nadarajah Sriskandarajah (Department of Urban and Rural Development, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences), Prof.R.Surenthirakumaran, (Dean, Faculty of Medicine, UOJ), Dr. P.
