Seventh Undergraduate Research Symposium 2024 was organized by Faculty of Medicine, University of Jaffna under the theme of “Unveiling insights, advancing knowledge together”. The inauguration was held at the Hoover Auditorium from 8.30 am to 10.30 am on March 07, 2024, presided by the Vice Chancellor, University of Jaffna, and the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine. Dr. K.Guruparan was the coordinator of URS2024. Prof. Saroj Jayasinghe Emeritus Professor of Medicine, University of Colombo was the Keynote Speaker. The keynote address was on “’Novel’ Topics for Research: Commercial Determinants of Health.”. The Symposium Proceedings were released. Hard copies were handed over to a few special invitees and the QR code was displayed in the screen for an audience to access the updated proceedings in the website of the Faculty of Medicine.
Followed by the inauguration ceremony, thirty abstracts by presented by medical undergraduate students under three themes such as: Exploring health and illness, empowering communities for health and wellness & building resilient health system. The research papers were evaluated by experts and the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners have been awarded.
