Introducing New Logo for the Faculty of Medicine, University of Jaffna

The new official Logo of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Jaffna is approved by the Council of University of Jaffna which was held on the 20th of April 2024.

The logo is designed within the unique 64 flames of the outer ring of the logo of University of Jaffna symbolizing the 64 kalās and a vector image of the front view of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Jaffna is in cooperated, which is considered an architecturally unique building in the Northern Province, symbolizing medical education.

The traditional oil lamp which is depicted in the logo of University of Jaffna, symbolizing the light of wisdom and vector images of the leaf of palmyra tree which is considered a “celestial tree” (“katpaha tharu”) symbolizing the Northern Sri Lanka are also placed esthetically in the logo.

The colour of the crest shall be maroon with a RGB value of R175 G25 B50, (Hex: #AF1932), (CMYK: 00,86,71,31).

The usage guidelines for the logo shall be the same as the usage guidelines stipulated for the logo of University of Jaffna and be always displayed along with the University logo in official communications of the Faculty of Medicine rather than being displayed as a standalone logo.

Professor. K. Muhunthan who was vested with this responsibility has designed the logo in concert with the views of the board members of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Jaffna which was accepted by the 401st Board of the Faculty of Medicine held on the 21st of February 2024. Subsequently the logo was approved by the Senate of the University of Jaffna held on 2nd April 2024 and finally the Council of the University of Jaffna held on 20th April 2024.
