A Symposium on Achieving Quality of life for persons with disabilities by adopting appropriate policies in Northern Sri Lanka, was held on the 6th of December, 2024 in celebration of International Day of Persons with Disabilities was conducted by Department of Social Services, Northern Provincial Council in collaboration with University of Jaffna at the Saraswathy Hall, 37, Sir Pon Ramanathan Road, Jaffna 8.30 a.m. onwards. The chief guests were Mrs. Elilarasy Antonyoganayagam (Deputy Chief Secretary- Admin, Northern Province), and Prof.R.Surenthirakumaran (Dean of Faculty of Medicine, University of Jaffna).
The speakers were Dr.S.P.Aththithan, Mrs. T.N.Isra, Mrs. Vanee S, Mr. S. Tharumathan, Eng. R. Valluvan and Mr. S. Shankar.
Nearly 400 people attended the event including Academics, Development Officers, Staffs from Divisional Secretary offices, Disabled persons from societies from Jaffna, Mannar, Kilinochchi, Thunukkai, Elders, Public, and students from Faculty of Arts, University of Jaffna.
